Tenke Fungurume, DR Congo

Freeport McMoRan, the worlds largest publicly quoted copper producer, through its subsidiary company Tenke Fungurume Mining SARL based in the DRC has awarded G Corner the contract for the supply of the new copper refinery's DC Busbar System and associated equipment.

Tenke Fungurume is considered to be one of the largest, highest-grade, undeveloped copper/cobalt concessions in the world today.

Electrowinning Resources Ltd (ERL) of the UK has awarded G Corner a long term 3 year supply contract to supply all the major capital equipment for its new range of micro copper electrowinning refineries being constructed in Ndola, Zambia and other parts of Africa, South America and Asia. G Corner will be the lead engineering firm for the design and supply of the following equipment:

- Transformer Rectifier units
- Solvent Extraction Plant
- Lead Anodes
- Stainless Steel Cathodes
- DC Busbar System
- Electrowinning Cells
- Capping Boards

Based on the successful commissioning of its first refinery in November last year plans to build another 2 - 3 refineries per year over the next 3 years

G Corner has been awarded the contract to supply the DC electrical system for the expansion of the Canexus Chemicals chlorine dioxide plant at Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. The DC Busbar system rated at 96,000 Amps is the latest in a number of G Corner busbars systems installed at the Brandon site over many years.

Xstrata Copper Refinery Expansion

Following an initial meeting between Xstrata and Roy Calvin Managing Director of G Corner at Xstrata’s Townsville Copper refinery, Queensland, Australia, G Corner were awarded the supply contract for the DC Electrical Busbars.

The G Corner supply is part of a major expansion of the Xstrata site at Townsville, which will take production up to 300,000 tonnes per year of copper cathode.

Chloralkali Plant Contract Award

G Corner announces the award of a major new project for the design and supply of the DC Electrical system for the new bleaching Plant for Tamil Nadu Pulp and Paper Ltd in India.

G Corner are working with Aker Kvaerner in India on the project for TNPPL which will use Aker Kvaerner Chemetics 25M Chloralkali electrolysers. The DC Electrical equipment will be supplied from G Corner’s Indian subsidiary, MSS India Pvt Ltd located in Nasik, Maharashtra, India.

Zambian International Trade Fair

G Corner announces its participation in the Zambian International Trade Fair to be held in Ndola from 28th June to 4th
July 2006.

Kansanshi Copper Refinery Project, Zambia

G Corner announces the completion of its contract to supply the DC Electrical System and shorting frame for the new copper electrowinning tankhouse at the Kansanshi mine and refinery complex near Solwezi in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia.

The supply of this electrical busbar system was the third to be supplied by G Corner to the Kansanshi complex owned by First Quantum Minerals. The G Corner scope of supply, managed by GRD Minproc of Australia, was for all the general and detail design and drawings of the electrical system and for the manufacture and supply from our facility in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Completion of Chlorine Plant Busbar Systems

G Corner announces the on time and on budget completion of its DC electrical systems for the new Ineos-Chlor Chlorine refinery in Runcorn, Cheshire, UK. G Corner Supplied 20 sets of copper DC electrical  busbar systems for the new ‘BiChlor’ Bi-Polar membrane electrolyser installation at the new plant.

The G Corner Equipment was supplied as part of a GBP 300 Million refurbishment of the 800kTPA Ineos Runcorn site which will ultimately lead to the replacement of the aging Mercury cells with new membrane electrolyser production technology.

G Corner announces the award of a major contract for the Spence Copper Project in Chile

G Corner, a leading international supplier of DC Busbar Systems for base metal electro winning and electro refining applications, further consolidated their position as a world Leader in its field as on Friday they announced the award of a major contract for the Spence Copper project in Chile for BHP Billiton through Aker Kvaerner, Santiago, Chile.

The multi million dollar project consists of the supply of the DC electrical systems and associated equipment for the $900 Million Spence Copper Project, which is the development of a copper ore deposit located in Chile's Region II, approximately 65 km south-west of the city of Calama in northern Chile. The project includes an open pit mine, crushing, conveying, dynamic heap leaching, solvent extraction and electrowinning (SX/EW) facilities that will produce a nominal 200,000 tons per year of high quality cathode copper.

G Corner will be responsible for the design, manufacture and installation supervision of all associated DC busbar systems for the project and will have a constant site presence for the duration of the project. All design, manufacturing and project management will be handled through G Corners UK Headquarters with local liaison being provided through their office in Chile, located in Santiago Chile. Estimated project completion is end of Quarter 4 2005.

The project, which was won at the end of September, adds another high profile project to G Corner’s ever expanding Project Portfolio which includes projects such as the Kansanshi Copper Electrowinning project for GRD Minproc / First Quantum Minerals in Northern Zambia as well as other large recent projects in Indonesia, China and South Africa. Managing Director of G Corner Roy Calvin is thrilled with this latest project award, he said, “This is a fantastic Project to be working on and further demonstrates industry confidence in our capabilities and technology. We look forward to working with our Spence Partners RioChilex S.A. (BHP Billiton) and Aker Kvaerner.”
